Retirement Communities
Retirement Communities on the Grand Strand generally require at least one resident per home to be 55+ years of age. The Covenants for each community can vary so make sure you check the Covenants of the community prior to purchasing a home. Check, for example, Covenants for Age requirements, pets, pool restrictions, trailers and motorcycles. Although some communities may allow a trailer in the driveway for 24 hours, others may allow them any time. Seniors who like to travel may need time to pack and unpack a trailer for their trip. Therefore, the use of a trailer in the community may be a consideration. Check out some of my blogs on Retirement Living.
Ridge Lake
Ridge Lake is a small gated retirement community located in Conway, SC. It is comprised of 39 homes with a private clubhouse with pool. As of September 2010, there are three lots currently undeveloped. Only one of these lots is on the market for sale. Ridge Lake is located on the Burning Ridge Golf Course allowing easy access to golf year round in Conway (one block from the city of Myrtle Beach). There is half a Bocce Court for its residents, as well as the clubhouse which is used for mah johnn. cards and game night. Dinners, meetings and other social gatherings are often held at the clubhouse as well. As of this date (Sept, 2010), the community is approximately 5 years old.
Lakeside Crossing
Lakeside Crossing is a retirement community of manufactured homes with Leased Land which gives a more affordable option for seniors on a fixed income. The community has a huge clubhouse and Athletic Club with lots of scheduled activities. Lakeside Crossing is located in Myrtle Beach on Hwy. 501.
Woodlake Village
Woodlake Village is located in Murrells Inlet East of 17 which means it is a golf cart ride to the beach. The homes are 2 and 3 bedroom homes approximately 15-25 years old. It is the oldest 55+ community with residential housing. In addition to the private clubhouse/rec/facilities there is a tennis court.
