Step One of How to Get to the Top of Google

As a senior citizen who did not grow up with computers, trying to Optimize my Website is an ongoing challenge.  After teaching for 32 years, I decided to "retire" to the Myrtle Beach area.  I lasted two weeks and decided to become certified as a Real Estate Agent.

First of all, these blogs about SEO are not written by a professional Search Engine Optimization expert.  My goal is to help other Realtors improve their websites with an easy step-by-step process. Aside from the challenging economy, my greatest challenge is How to Optimize my website.  It has become a contest for me.  I want to see my website on the first page of Google, Yahoo and other search engines as an Organic company.

By Organic, I mean the first ads that are not "Paid Ads".  By adding a Paid Ad, I would expect to be on the page twice.  Great!

With a name like Karen S. Smith, my name will not really help me.  Smith is a very, very common name on Google, et al.  Myrtle Beach is also a popular destination spot, so that name doesn't help me too much either.

So how do I get on top of Google?

I only began my journey around September 2010, so this is an ongoing process.

Step One, however, has to be to create a real estate website.

Since I did not grow up with computers, I knew I had to seek out a professional to design my website.  I feel this was the way to go because the whole process was beyond my knowledge at the time.  The advantage to using a professional, such as Myrsol (myrsol.com) is that they can explain the more intricate steps.  Someone who creates your website does NOT know SEO.  They are two different skills.  It would be like asking someone who fixes your computer to write a computer program.

If you cannot hire a company to design your website, check out Go Daddy.  They have an inexpensive website that is self-explanatory and Customer Service is extremely helpful.

What is essential is to have a website that is geared towards Real Estate.  In other words, you must be able to link your site to the local Multiple Listing Service.

HomeSearchMyrtleBeach.com services Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove, Windy Hill, Crescent Beach, Ocean Drive, Murrells Inlet, Socastee, Conway, Loris, Longs, Surfside Beach, Socastee, Garden City, Little River and the surrounding areas.
