Myrtle Trace - Retirement Living at Its Best
Tags: buyers, abr, sfr, myrtle beach, real estate, home search, south carolina, buying a home, conway, retirement community
Myrtle Trace was the original Retirement Community in the Myrtle Beach area. The homes were built by Hall Development (now known as, Sterling Homes) which has built three homes for the TV show: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. What first attracts people to the subdivision besides the age restrictions is the mature trees. It gives one the impression they are living in the middle of the woods. The pine trees surround most of the homes. There is even a beautiful picnic area next to the pool area.
There are two main sections of Myrtle Trace. One section is located behind Walmart. The other newer section is located next to Conway Hospital. The "older" section of Myrtle Trace was built about 22 years ago, although there are some newer homes. The "newer" homes are approximately seven years old. There is a clubhouse with a pool for residents in the community. It is an Active Retirement Community. There are the Myrtle Trace Players and a Myrtle Trace Choir to name just two of the community activities. During the winter holidays, the entire community puts candles along the front of their homes. This makes a wonderful display while uniting the community residents.
There is a Home Owners Association; however, the fees in 2010 are a low $60.00 per month. The community became a gated-community in 2010. Although the gates make the community more secure, they also keep residents in other communities from using the roads as a cut-through to the nearby doctors, shopping and Conway Hospital. The closeness of these amenities, especially Conway Hospital and Wellness Center, makes retirement living at Myrtle Trace that much better. The HOA fees include maintenance of public areas and also lawn-cutting of the first ten feet of each residents' property.
The subdivision is located on part of the Burning Ridge Golf Course which gives residents easy access to golf year round. What more can you want? Easy access to doctors, hospitals and golf while having neighbors approximately the same age (which often means similar interests) in a forest-like atmostphere. Life doesn't get much better.
